Country star Reba McEntire celebrates her engagement to fiancé Rex Linn.
The engagement was confirmed at the Emmys when an interviewer referred to Linn as McEntire’s fiancé, and McEntire didn’t correct the label.
The 70-year-old and her beau have been friends since 1991. They reconnected on his show, YOUNG SHELDON, in 2020, and have dated ever since, Fox News Digital reported.
She says her connection with Linn is magnetic and they’ve been “inseparable” since they reconnected.
“We didn’t get to see each other from January till June 16 [due to COVID], but we created an intimacy by texting and talking over the telephone that we wouldn’t have gotten if we’d have been together all of that time,” she said previously. “It was very special. It was a great way to find out about each other without ever touching.”

It helped her to know Linn well and evaluate his character.
“You know the ins and outs of their personality and their faults…You love them for the way they are, instead of it being a total attraction and sizing them up because of appearance,” she said, adding that people tend to “gravitate to the physical so quickly.”
A source told PEOPLE that the couple got engaged a few months ago and are “very happy.”
“I’ve been married twice. After the second one dissolved, I don’t have much faith in…being bound by a piece of paper or a ring,” she previously told E! News. “But I’m truly committed to Rex, so if that’s something he feels totally strong about, that’s fine with me. He’s never been married before. So if he wants to experience that, I’m OK with that.”
She’s also previously joked about what their wedding celebration would look like.
“We’ve talked about it and giggled about it,” she said. “We thought, ‘Man if we ever had a ceremony, we would have to have a 2 o’clock, 4 o’clock, 6 o’clock and an 8 o’clock ‘cause we have so many friends, acquaintances, and family.”
The duo both act in McEntire’s sitcom, HAPPY’S PLACE.
“Periodically — I know this sounds really dorky — periodically I will go by and kiss the top of her head real quick,” Linn told NBC Insider last year. “Just a little peck and then [I] just run off. Every once in a while we’ll see each other from afar and wave.”
“It makes a lot of people sick when they see me give her a little peck,” he added. “They’re like, ‘Ugh…”
Congratulations to the happy, sappy couple!
