At Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, his wife, Erika, lived out the gospel as she proclaimed that she forgives her husband’s shooter.

“On the cross, our savior said, ‘Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.’ That man, that young man. I forgive him,” Erika said while speaking at her husband’s memorial.

“I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and is what Charlie would do,” she continued. “The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love, is always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.”

This incredible act of faith and mercy comes as Erika has grappled with life without her husband since his assassination on Sept. 10. During this time, she has continued to live out Charlie’s message and focus on the gospel, rather than seeking retribution and spreading hate.

“The world is evil. But our Savior. Our Lord. Our God. He… He is so good. I will never have the words. Ever,” she wrote in an Instagram post written to her late husband. “The sound of this widow weeping echos throughout this world like a battle cry.”

“I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does out Lord. They have no idea what they just ignited within this wife,” she continued. “If they thought my husband’s mission was big now… you have no idea. You. All of you. Will never. Ever. forget my husband @charliekirk1776 I’ll make sure of it. Rest in the arms of our Lord.”

This decision to choose Christ’s love over hatred has not returned empty. Not only have many celebrities used their platforms to spread a similar message, but it has inspired millions to turn to the Lord and seek His solace and comfort.

While speaking at her husband’s memorial this week, Erika revealed that she has seen revival break out across the country instead of rioting and violence.

“This past week, we saw people open a Bible for the first time in a decade. We say people pray for the first time since they were children. We say people go to a church service for the first time in their entire lives,” she said. “All of you who are already believers, it is your job to shepherd these people. Do not take that lightly. Water the seed of their faith. Protect it and help it grow.”

Charlie’s memorial service was, above all, a place where people witness the power and glory of Christ’s gospel message. As Erika and millions of others continue to mourn Charlie’s death, it is amazing how they are speaking of his faith, allowing the Gospel to spread like fire across the country.
