Earlier this week, Disney released its first trailer showcasing what fans can expect from the upcoming Mandalorian movie: THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU.
“The evil empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As for the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and his young apprentice Grogu,” a synopsis of the movie reads.

The new trailer shows Din Djarin and Grogu working closer than ever as they fight to help the Rebellion stay alive. It also features characters and locations that any Star Wars fan will instantly recognize.
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” said Jon Favreau, who created the show and co-wrote the script for the movie. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.
“We found that a lot of stuff in space looked great in IMAX, and a lot of stuff looked great in sets that we built taller,” he later added. “We really embraced the opportunity. And again, remember, since we’re coming from television to the big screen, we really wanted to find what opportunities we didn’t have available to us in the other format.”
Along with Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, Jonny Coyne, Jeremy Allen White and Sigourney Weaver are all set to star in the movie as new or returning characters to the franchise. The movie is set to pick up where the third season ended after a climactic battle as the Mandalorian people looked to reclaim their homeland. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
Chapters 23 and 24 of THE MANDALORIAN are an exciting book end to Din Djarin’s journey. The episodes feature amazing action, suspense and the triumph of good overcoming tyrannical evil. The lead characters exemplify teamwork, patriotism, working past one’s differences, and sacrifice. The episodes also feature a strong father-son relationship. However, there’s lots of strong action violence with two armies battling one another and heroes fighting the villain and his personal guards. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children.
Hopefully the movie takes the family-friendly nature of the show along as well and keeps Star Wars a franchise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. While the new trailer is exciting, fans still have a while to wait for the movie as THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU is not set to hit theaters until May 22, 2026.
