Dolly Parton announced the sad news that she will postpone her Las Vegas residency shows after facing health challenges that have left her feeling unprepared to perform.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts. As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” Parton announced on Instagram. “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.”
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say,” Parton continued. “And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for your understanding.”

This surprising news comes after Parton announced a six-show Vegas residency earlier this summer, which was set to be her first extended set of performances since ending her “Pure and Simple” tour in 2016.
“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked in Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there,” Parton said when discussing the residency in June. “I’m looking forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there.”
The legendary singer previously revealed that she plans to continue working for a long, long time.
“I would never retire. I’ll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song on stage someday, and hopefully one I’ve written,” Parton said in July of 2023. “That’s how I hope to go. Of course, we don’t have much of a choice in that.”
Parton is now scheduled to perform at The Colosseum Theater at Caesar’s Palace next year from Sept. 17 through Sept. 26. Meanwhile, please keep Parton in your prayers as she undergoes these operations to keep herself in good health.
