Jeremy Renner nearly died on New Year’s Day of 2023 after being crushed by a 1,500 pound snow plow. While his recovery since has been miraculous, he revealed that he will always be healing from that accident.

“I’ll always be in recovery, but I feel pretty dang good. And in the dark, I look pretty good too. Not bad, I’m pretty handsome in the dark,” Renner quipped during an interview with Fox News.

The horrific event took place on January 1, 2023, when Renner stepped in front of a sliding Snocat snow plow to save the life of his adult nephew who was in the machine’s path. The actor was immediately rushed to the emergency room where he was found to have broken over 30 bones and sustained blunt force trauma to the chest.

While it was a miracle that Renner even survived such an accident, even more amazing was that he was discharged from the hospital only two weeks later. He’s undergone two and a half years of intense recovery since, and even though he will always be fighting to remain healthy, he finds the strength to do so from his teen daughter Ava.

“It’s easy to do when you have the love and support that I have,” Renner said while walking the red carpet of his show RENNERVATIONS in April of 2023, just four months after the accident. “Doing it alone would have been impossible. A lot of people, some are here, were a part of saving my life and keep me alive to breathe and move through.”

“It took a lot of people,” the actor continued. “It starts with my family, my daughter, then a big part of my recovery was this show, it set a big milestone for me to get better, to make sure that all our hard work was not for naught. “For me, it was easy, I had somewhere to go, somewhere to point, and I had a lot of love, man.”

The accident has also given Renner a new outlook on life as he came to realize just how much of a gift every day is.

“I have been exploring EVERY type of therapy since Jan 14th,” Renner said. “Countless hours of physical therapy, peptide injections, iv drips and pushes, stem cell and exosomes, red light / IR therapy, hyperbaric chambers 2.0 atmospheres, cold plunge, and the list goes on and on.”

“My greatest therapy has been my mind and the will to be here and push to recover and be better…Be exceptional…I feel it’s my duty to do so,” he continued. “Not to squander my life being spared, but to give back to my family, friends, and all of you whom have empowered me to endure. I thank you all.”

It is truly incredible to follow Renner’s journey of recovery and just how much he has been able to return to normal after facing such a terrible accident.
