Singer Anne Wilson opened up about her new faith-filled album, reflecting on its themes of “honesty, vulnerability” and “childlike wonder.”

“I think a lot of it is the wear and tear of a faith walk with God,” Wilson told The Christian Post of her third album, Stars. “There are times where everything’s great, and then there are times you’re doubting or off track. This record was me wrestling through some of that, doubting, making mistakes, and learning to keep going even when I don’t feel like I’m in a good place.”

She called the writing process “emotional and vulnerable, but it was healing, too,” adding that it gave her time to “sit with my emotions and process everything.”

Wilson’s faith has seen her tough times, but she made it clear that that doesn’t mean she’s never had doubts.

“Christianity is believing in a God we can’t physically see or touch,” she explained. “There are going to be moments of doubt. But honesty and vulnerability can transform lives.”

Wilson concluded, “I want people to listen to this record and feel that childlike wonder we all used to have. To believe again that God can do more than we could ever dream or imagine.”

She discussed the album further in an interview with Country Now, sharing, “It’s about kind of exchanging your dreams for God’s dreams and for me that was, I wanted to be an astronaut and work for NASA, and then my brother passed away and everything changed and music became what God was calling me to.”

“I love getting to dive into this record and write this idea of ‘Stars,’ of what it means to just embrace what God has now put in my life and the dreams that he’s now placed on my heart, which is music and getting to walk. And that has been so cool,” Wilson continued.

The singer-songwriter recently reflected on her faith in a video for White Chair’s I AM SECOND series. One of the things she still struggles with is the death of her brother Jacob, and how it spurred her on to pursue a career in music.

“It’s a really bittersweet thing to sit in those moments and to hold the joy of what God has done, with also the grief that I’d literally give all of this back in five seconds to have my brother back,” she shared

Wilson added, “I want to allow the Lord to use my life and do something with it. That’s the coolest part of all this is learning to be okay with the Lord’s plans over my own. Knowing that He is a God who gives and takes away but blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Wilson’s new album Stars is now available to stream and purchase.
