Wendi Lou Lee, who played baby Grace Ingalls on LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, explained why the show is more popular than ever 50 years after its debut.
“It’s just everything good. Family, community, faith,” Lee told the Christian Post. “You can get everything from LITTLE HOUSE: every lesson you might need to learn, or maybe one you don’t even know yet…People want simple times even if they don’t know they want it. Our world is so fast, so distracting. When you watch LITTLE HOUSE, you slow down.”
“I think our current landscape is craving something, even if they don’t know what. If we can get people to slow down, take a breath, LITTLE HOUSE helps us do that,” she added. “There’s a reason it’s resonated for decades. You hear [Ma and Pa] quote Psalm 23 in its entirety on network television. You watch them treat their neighbors with dignity. You see stories of perseverance and grace. Somehow, this beautiful, godly influence made it on NBC. It’s incredible.”

It is truly incredible that a show created 50 years ago is not only still popular but continues to grow its audience. It also proves to TV networks that family-friendly content is what audiences really want.
“When we did the show, we went, ‘Yeah, this is a really good show, Oh, it seems to be a hit, that’s nice.’ But the idea that 50 years later, people would still be excited about it, it’s absolutely mind-blowing,” said Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson.
The show’s popularity has even warranted a revival that is being produced by Netflix and will hit the streamer sometime in the near future.
“Big news from the prairie! Have you met the Ingalls family cast for Netflix’s new series?” an Instagram post from the official “Little House on the Prairie” The LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE Instagram announced. “Alice Halsey will step into the iconic role of Laura Ingalls, with Luke Bracey as Charles ‘Pa’ Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline ‘Ma,’ and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls.”
“I am so thankful for this!” Hughes added. “I’ve loved the Little House books since I was very young and little me would absolutely die of excitement! Big me is sooooo excited too! Thank you to the entire Little House team for trusting me to take care of Mary! I Absolutely will! This project has my whole heart!!!!”
It truly is incredible to see LITTLE HOUSE’s legacy and the way it continues to grow and connect with even more audiences. The show is truly something special and deserves all the success it has received.
