New York Knicks Trey Jemison shared a new lesson he learned from reading scripture.

Preparing for the team’s NBA Cup final on Tuesday, Jemison shared on Instagram, “In middle school, I heard this lady saying, If God does nothing else, he’s already done enough. The time I heard what she said. I knew where she was coming from, but I really wasn’t to try to hear that. I was probably 12 years old. I was like, I’m praying for so much man I got, you know, I’m 12, I want to go to college. I want to play NBA one day, blah, blah, blah.

“As I’ve gotten older, what I realized is she wasn’t saying don’t pray for more things. She was saying that everything else is a bonus,” he added.

Jemison then read John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

“I had to realize that God sent his only son down here to die for my sins so that I can have grace and mercy, and when one day I die, I’m gonna go to heaven and live eternally, it’s all that I need,” the NBA star said. “That’s it. Don’t need anything else.

“I’m sitting here from a blessed position in life. I’m extremely blessed. And of course, everybody wants more,” he continued. “I mean, I’m praying for more right now. I’m praying that my team gets this win on Tuesday. Everybody’s praying for more. But the reality of it is that when you are children of God, you have everything you need.

“I know it doesn’t feel like it, but you have everything you need. But when you serve God, he’s the supplier of all your needs, according to his riches and his glory, and God’s riches, I run out on you,” Jemison added.

The New York Knicks beat the Orlando Magic 132-120 on Sunday evening to advance to the NBA Cup Finals. Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson had himself a game with 40 points, 4 rebounds, and 8 assists.

On the other side of the bracket, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in an 111-109 victory, which ended the Thunder’s 16-game win streak. Star center Victor Wembanyama returned to the court and scored 22 points with 9 rebounds and 2 blocks, per NBA.com.

Jemison is ready and excited for his team to play in the NBA Cup Finals. However, he wants people to understand the meaning of salvation and that when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we now have all that we need.
