New York Knicks center Trey Jemison got to hoist up the NBA Cup Finals trophy as he and the Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 124-113.

“Blessed to be a part of history,” Jemison wrote in a post on social media that included photos of him and his team with their gold medals on.

Jemison uses his platform on social media to host regular Bible studies discussing everyday trials and lessons.

Even though Jemison is known for being in the NBA, he’s made it very clear that that is not his identity.

“This is so who I am, not TallT, not 55, not even Trey Jemison. But a son of the Most High,” Jemison shared on Instagram. “Although I am his son doesn’t mean I’m perfect or I don’t sin; it just means that when I leave this earth, I’ll be in heaven forever, and I am blessed with his eternal grace. I say all this because I want people to see Christ through me and nothing else. Because without him, I am nothing, and with him, I am unbeatable.

“Even though I am saved doesn’t mean I’ll never mess up again or everything I do is going to be like Jesus,” he continued. “The idea is to work towards getting more like Jesus every day and leaving my flesh alone. Because I’m still a 21-year-old college student who bumps Pooh Shiesty and falls off the straight and narrow, but if you see me struggling, pray for me and just know I’m trying to get right.”

Jemison was first signed by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2023.

“The same GOD that healed the sick. The same GOD that fed the 5,000. That GOD answered my prayers. That GOD WILL ANSWER YOURS TOO,” Jemison wrote as he shared several photos of his answered prayers.

After things didn’t work out with the Peilcans, Jemison went to the NBA G League, where he averaged 13.6 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game. He was then signed to a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he scored his first NBA points.

Jemison knows his journey to the NBA is unconventional, but without that testimony, he would never be able to tell people how good God is.

“TESTIMONY- a way in which God has shown up in a person’s life. Perhaps it is a lesson God has taught them or a reminder He gave. Sometimes it’s an answered prayer or a victory over sin,” he wrote.

Jemison normally only posts Bible studies on his social media feed, but after the Knicks beat the Spurs in the NBA Cup Finals, Jemison took to social media to express how blessed he is to make history.
