Home renovators Chip and Joanna Gaines turned a “lifelong” dream into reality with a generous donation to Baylor University.
The couple both graduated from the Texas university over two decades ago, and the school played a defining role in their lives. On Jan. 12, the Gaineses celebrated the debut of Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark, accomplished through the couple’s generous donation.
“The consistent presence and generosity of Chip and Joanna through their time and resources have been invaluable to Baylor University over these past 12 years,” said Baylor President Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D., in a statement about the newly named baseball field. “From hosting events at their facilities to serving on planning and advisory groups, speaking at events and financially supporting Baylor Athletics and other areas within the University, these dedicated alumni continue to invest in their alma mater and this city we call home.”
She added, “Their hospitality through the ongoing operations of Magnolia Silos and its brand extensions has given Baylor new opportunities to connect with our Central Texas neighbors and visitors from around the world. We celebrate this gift, which will help us to widen our welcome and offer unique experiences for fans of all ages. We look forward to cheering for Baylor Baseball at Magnolia Field this spring.”

Chip proudly announced the new field in a post to Instagram, accompanied by photos of him and Joanna.
“Proud to introduce Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark,” he wrote. “Thanks to a historic gift from @magnolia to support future capital projects and the next chapter of @baylorbaseball right here in Waco!”
In another post, Chip called it “an honor and a privilege…really to be honest, a lifelong dream to partner” with Baylor’s baseball team.
People in the comment section celebrated alongside the couple.
“This is so fun!! They are such great stewards,” one person said. Another fan added, “Such a moment! Congrats!”
“Baylor has always been more than a university to us — it’s a place that shaped who we are and continues to shape leaders who care deeply about people,” Chip and Joanna said. “Baseball, in particular, has played a meaningful role in our family for generations. It’s where lessons are passed down, relationships are built, and memories are made — on and off the field. This gift is rooted in our gratitude for the coaches who pour into their athletes, the student-athletes who show up with heart and discipline every day and the fans who gather to cheer them on.”
What an incredible honor for the Gaineses to give back to their alma mater!
