Actor Zachary Levi’s faith informs what projects he works on, including his latest about King David, which he hopes reminds viewers that God is with us.

“I think my faith guides me in first understanding that God is a God of excellence and calls us to that excellence,” he began an Instagram video. “And beyond that, it’s like, why are you telling stories that mean something? That, are they true? Are they beautiful? Are they necessary?”

Levi hosts Fox Nation’s new four-part biblical docudrama, DAVID: KING OF ISRAEL.

“The message that I hope audiences take from this series is we’re not alone. You’re not alone. God is with you,” he said. “It does require us on some level. You know, we play a part in our relationship with God.”

As each of us walk through our life with God, we can ask ourselves some questions to deepen our faith: “Are we humbling ourselves to God? Are we recognizing that we need help, that we’re not we’re not perfect, you know, having that level of humility, asking for that grace, asking for that guidance?”

But thankfully, “God’s never done with you,” Levi emphasized.

“You know, a lot of people think that they feel like, well, they screwed up too much, and God doesn’t want anything to do with them, or they can’t somehow come back from that. That’s just not true,” he concluded.

People in the comment section shared support and gratitude for the new series.

“Can’t wait! Thank you for your courage in the faith of our Savior Jesus,” one person said. Another added, “Amen! Keep doing the kingdom work @zacharylevi love to see folks who have a platform, use it for God’s glory ❤️”

Fox News Media announced the docudrama in early December.

“Grounded in biblical scripture yet told with cinematic grit, DAVID: KING OF ISRAEL offers a raw, sweeping portrait of a man whose life was marked by courage, violence, passion, failure, and redemption,” Fox said. “Through immersive reenactments, expert commentary, and Levi’s thoughtful narration, the series captures David’s rise from overlooked shepherd boy to warrior, outlaw and ultimately, unifier of a kingdom.”

FOX Nation president Lauren Petterson called Levi’s involvement a “natural” choice: “Zachary Levi was a natural fit for this series. His sincerity and connection to the material allow King David’s story to come alive in a way that feels relevant to today’s viewers. Highlighting faith, redemption, and extraordinary purpose, we’re honored to bring this story to FOX Nation with Zachary at the helm.”

Levi said, “Aside from the account of Christ, the story of David is the most powerful in all of scripture. In fact, one might argue that it’s even more powerful in some ways, given that David was fully human, and therefore flawed, like us, making his journey more relatable to our own.”

He added, “It’s a story I’ve wanted to be a part of telling ever since I was a child, so it was such a blessing being a part of this production.”

DAVID: KING OF ISRAEL began streaming on Fox Nation on Feb. 26.
