BLUE SKIES stars Markian Tarasiuk and Scarlet Hunter shared about the family values in their new UPtv show, BLUE SKIES.

“To be here celebrating our show with other like-minded storytellers is really special,” said Hunter. “…I think for our show, its very family driven and [has] a lot of relatable family struggles. So I think just kind of grounding ourselves in real-life family dynamics was really cool.”

She’s confidant that audiences will be able to relate to the story the show tells. Tarasiuk added that uplifting messages mean a lot to viewers.

“I think, selfishly, I would love people to watch the show, BLUE SKIES, on UPtv…I’m just so happy to be here and to be supported [by] an organization like Movieguide®,” Tarasiuk said.

BLUE SKIES premiered on UPtv on Feb. 19 and is available to stream on UP Faith & Family.

Set in Crystal Ridge National Park, the series follows a former military police officer, Jodi Larson, played by Hunter, who now works as a criminal investigator for the National Park Police. As she starts out in her new job, she encounters an unexpected canine companion, Blue.

“It’s a family friendly detective drama set in a gorgeous national park. I play Jodi Larson who is moving back to her small town after her time in the military and she stumbles across a four-legged friend who helps her along the way,” Hunter told Action 5 News.

Tarasiuk expanded on his role as Ryan Miller, head of Search and Rescue at the park.

“Aside from possibly being a little bit of a love flame in the show, I help her find people in the park whenever she needs help along with Blue,” he said.

The show was filmed in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada.

“I think it’s the most beautiful place in the world,” said Tarasiuk. “You’ve got the ocean, you’ve got the forest, you’ve got the mountains and we really try to showcase that in the show. So aside from the crime and mystery of the show, also there’s just this beauty within every episode that you get to watch as an audience member.”

Part of Movieguide®’s review of the drama reads, “The series premiere of BLUE SKIES is an engaging and wholesome, though sometimes slow-paced, episode that stresses reconciliation. The program has good direction, solid writing, strong performances, and breathtaking cinematography of a beautiful national park… Episode One of BLUE SKIES has a strong moral, pro-family worldview with redemptive content.”

Movieguide® gives episode 1 a -2 rating. There is some light violence, and we recommend parents discuss the episode when viewing with young children.
