Sadie Robertson Huff shared a story of how jealousy can lead to regret in the long run.

“I go to the church, and the pastors at the college group asked me if I would share a message, and I said, ‘Absolutely, I’d love to,’” the DUCK DYNASTY star said in a recent sermon. “So I started preparing a message, and I actually prepared this message.”

Huff continued, “I go up and I preach at our college night, and this girl comes up to me after, and she is crying, and she hugs me….and I can only imagine what she’s about to say is ‘The Lord just touched me, something that you said really spoke to me.’ But no, that’s not what she said. She cried and she hugged me and she said, ‘Sadie, I have to tell you something…I have hated you for so long.’”

“I’m like, ‘What? Excuse me? Nice to meet you, too!’” she joked. “She said, ‘I’ve hated you for so long. I’ve never even met you…I have to tell you, I really am so sorry, because I’ve hated you for so long, and, man, when you came back to this church, I was so annoyed that you moved back here.’”

Huff shared that she “didn’t know anything about this” and called it her “worst fear.”

“It’s my worst fear that people wouldn’t like me for some reason; here she is, right in front of me, saying my worst fear,” she said.

Huff added, “She says, ‘But as you were preaching, I was so convicted because I realized….that I was just jealous of you, and it made me start talking bad about you, and it got to a level of hate….and I feel horrible because now I can see that it’s real.’”

The reality star has often spoken about the effects jealousy can have on people, especially when exacerbated by social media’s comparison culture.

“Whoever we’re following, that’s who is leading us. But we don’t think about that when it comes to social media. We just follow, and we click on the app, and we don’t realize the path that it’s taking us on,” Huff said in a 2022 interview. “One of the things with social media that could help us the most is just being a little more intentional about it. If something is a struggle for you, then get it out of your life. …Don’t just keep going on the same pattern because that’s [what] everyone else is doing.”

Huff has also reminded her own social media followers that what they see online isn’t always the full story.

“I think that’s the thing we have to realize…the picture can never display the full picture. the caption can never articulate the fullness of a 24/7 reality,” she wrote in a 2024 Instagram post.

When jealousy starts to creep into our hearts, let’s remember the harm it causes and look to God for our satisfaction instead.
