Actress Minnie Driver says stepping into the role of Sarah in the upcoming Fox series THE FAITHFUL: WOMEN OF THE BIBLE was nothing short of a leap of faith, both personally and professionally.
The series, which debuts on March 22, reimagines the Book of Genesis through the lives of the women whose stories shaped religious history.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to playing women who take big leaps of faith, whether romantically, spiritually or morally,” Driver told Deadline. “Stepping into the role of Sarah required embracing all three and more, as Sarah is an extraordinary human, having a deeply spiritual experience.”
As told in the Bible, Driver’s character Sarah and her husband Abraham struggle to conceive and take matters into their own hands instead of trusting God.

“Her path to faith was a really interesting and difficult journey and, as with all great storytelling, Sarah’s life and predicament is both relatable and fascinating,” the Oscar nominee said. “It is a great pleasure, and not before time, to bring Sarah’s story and the stories of all these remarkable, biblical matriarchs into the light.”
Jeffery Donovan plays Abraham. The series also explores the lives of Hagar, Rebekah, Leah and Rachel.
Natacha Karam, Alexa Davalos, Millie Brady, Blu Hunt, Tom Mison, Tom Payne and Ben Robson star in the limited series alongside Driver.
“THE FAITHFUL follows the Old Testament’s heroic, biblical matriarchs and opens a new lane of storytelling at Fox,” said Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network. “This show is the definition of strong, female character-driven storytelling, exploring timeless themes that originated thousands of years ago, yet remain startlingly modern and relatable. Carol, Julie, and Rene bring unbelievable depth, dimension, intimacy and surprise to stories so many think they know but will completely rediscover through this powerful new lens.”
THE FAITHFUL is set to air over three weeks with two-hour episodes over this Easter Season. The finale will debut on Easter Sunday, April 5.
In a post to Instagram, Driver celebrated the series while at its screening.
“Minnie + Not So Mini Minnie. The screening tonight of THE FAITHFUL @thenationalgallerey was beautiful. It’s out in the US March 22nd.
