BOSTON BLUE’s Donnie Wahlberg says this CHOSEN moment made him rethink his own relationship with faith.
“In THE CHOSEN, you know, we’re watching, and it’s like, I’m crying at this moment, and I’m crying at this moment, and I read this in the Bible, and now I’m watching it play out, and I’m like, ‘Oh my…I know this moment,’” he said during an episode of “The George Janko Show.”
Wahlberg explained that watching the apostles “doubting again” and “questioning again,” all while Jesus “doesn’t give them the answer,” helped him think about his faith.
“He’ll give them something to think about. He’ll give them a question so they can grow, right? Not just feed them the answer,” the actor said.
Wahlberg shared that his first instinct was to laugh at how “stupid” the apostles were for doubting but then said, “I started to see it, see the whole thing in a different way, the whole series. They’re us. They’re us. And I never knew that. I never knew that.”

Wahlberg has previously spoken about watching THE CHOSEN, telling Fox News that he and wife Jenny McCarthy love the series.
“Date night for us though typically looks like…we make a big plan, we’re about to get ready, and then we say, ‘Ah, let’s stay in and watch THE CHOSEN,” he told the outlet. “And then we watch THE CHOSEN. That’s kind of like date nights nowadays.”
The BLUE BLOODS star has also been more open about his Christian faith recently.
“It’s really in the last year that I really have committed myself on a deeper level,” he said in a 2026 interview, via Hello!
Wahlberg explained that his fame and fortune still left him feeling “empty,” adding, “I felt at the bottom…everything to the outside world looks perfect and I was empty. I can’t do it anymore without Him. I’m missing something in my life.”
“[My faith] makes me a better me,” he concluded.
McCarthy has also spoken about her faith, telling the “Culture Apothecary” podcast, “Some people have to work really hard to hear Him. I’ve got a direct line. I mean, Jesus is my homie.”
Fans are excited to watch Wahlberg and McCarthy dive deeper into their faith!
