According to a recent study, audiences want accurate portrayals of faith in Hollywood. This curated list features faith-based films that hit the mark regarding Christian content. From box-office hits like SOUND OF FREEDOM to powerful stories like THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, these movies should be added to everyone’s must-watch list.

JESUS REVOLUTION is a very entertaining and accurate, though compressed, portrait of the Vietnam protest era of hippies and young revolutionaries who find Jesus because God calls several people to welcome them into the Body of Christ. At its heart, the plot is propelled by a love story between an impoverished young man, Greg Laurie, with an alcoholic mother, and a beautiful young woman named Cathe, from a wealthy Laguna Hills family in Southern California. JESUS REVOLUTION is very bold about showing drug use, communal living, protest rallies, and Christian hypocrisy, but it also has many scenes of intense jeopardy and many scenes featuring inspiring, uplifting, well-written Christian presentations and expressions of the Gospel.
SOUND OF FREEDOM tells the true story of Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent who puts his life on the line to rescue hundreds of children out of sex trafficking. SOUND OF FREEDOM is an incredible, gripping and heartbreaking, but hope-giving, movie with a strong Christian, moral that sheds light on the need for strong people to stand up for God’s children around the world who are caught in the vicious, abusive system of human trafficking, but MOVIEGUIDE® advises strong and extreme caution for the movie’s mature subject matter, some implied and depicted violence, implied abuse of children, and a scene of some bad guys using cocaine.

THE BLIND tells the story of how Christian celebrity, pastor and businessman Phil Robertson turned his life around by following Jesus Christ. THE BLIND is a very good movie as a Christian testimony, but its structure doesn’t follow all the rules of filmmaking, and the movie has some rough moments about drinking and sinfulness, so MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution, especially for children and young teenagers.
THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Mel Gibson’s masterpiece, covers the time period from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Cross and beyond. The movie goes beyond most Passion Plays to highlight in stark, dark, and intense terms the spiritual warfare raging around Jesus Christ during His Passion. It is a must-see movie, beautifully directed and powerfully acted.
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE is about the story behind the most-played Christian contemporary song of all time, “I Can Only Imagine” by the band MercyMe, which involves overcoming an estranged relationship between a father and son. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE is a powerful, tear-jerker story of redemption and reconciliation through Jesus Christ with only a light caution for younger children.

WAR ROOM is a very emotional, compelling Christian movie about spiritual warfare, in a story about a married couple having problems. Although the topic of prayer seems to be elusive as a major plot, the filmmakers of WAR ROOM do a great job of making it exciting.

CABRINI tells the inspiring true story of Mother Cabrini, an Italian immigrant and the first United States citizen to be canonized as the patron saint of immigrants, who travels to America in 1889 to live out her gospel mission to care for orphans in the streets and sewers of New York City. CABRINI boasts stunning visuals and a truly compelling performance by Cristiana Dell’Anna as Cabrini that will keep viewers engaged throughout the entire story. Due to some violence and adult themes, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger viewers.

I STILL BELIEVE is the poignant, heartrending true story of the famous Christian singer Jeremy Camp’s marriage to Melissa, who’s dying of cancer. Clearly and poignantly showing that true love never fails, the movie is beautifully filmed, very well acted, heartrending, and engaging.
