OK, so it’s not Christmas yet, but we could all use a little holiday cheer. With cooler temps sweeping in and the sun setting earlier, now is the perfect time to cozy up with some new Christmas movies. Here’s what we’re streaming this weekend:
- TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY is a Christmas romance streaming on Great American Pure Fix and airing on Great American Family. Candace Cameron Bure stars as Ally, an app developer preparing to sell her grandma Joy’s beloved, but failing, print shop. When she and the shop manager are sent back in time, Ally decides to convince the younger version of Joy to sell the store right then. However, as she starts to understand her grandma’s viewpoint, Ally begins to wonder if connecting with others is more important than business success.TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY is a charming, heartfelt Christmas romance that fans of the genre will enjoy and embrace. Candace Cameron Bure is excellent in the lead. Not surprisingly, she has excellent onscreen chemistry with her daughter, Natasha, who plays the young version of Joy, the grandmother. TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY has a strong Christian, moral worldview. It stresses the importance of trusting in God’s plan, with scenes featuring Christmas celebrations, prayer and Scripture. The movie also promotes family, community, free enterprise, and sacrificing to help others. TIMELESS TIDINGS OF JOY has no objectionable content.
- A ROYAL CHRISTMAS MANOR is a romantic comedy airing on UPtv. Katie Miller is a young woman who wants to become the proprietor of her family’s business, The Fredonia Inn. Meanwhile, in the country of Fredonia, Prince Alexander is hoping for a vacation with the chance of being a normal person. He decides to go to the American inn Katie runs. Alexander hides his title, and the two spark a friendship and then a whirlwind Christmas romance. Alex and Katie get to know each other. However, when an unexpected snowstorm prevents Alex from flying back home for Christmas. His mother decides to go rescue him.A ROYAL CHRISTMAS MANOR is well produced and has appealing performances and some funny whimsical humor. However, despite a heartfelt, emotional ending, the story and plotline are a bit predictable. They’re also full of typical secular Christmas trappings, with only one brief minor reference to the Birth of Jesus. That said, A ROYAL CHRISTMAS MANOR has a strong moral worldview. It extols hospitality, kindness, free enterprise, marriage, and family. So, it provides an enjoyable, family-friendly, uplifting experience.
- In A NEWPORT CHRISTMAS, streaming on Hallmark+, Gilded Age socialite Ella longs for a more meaningful life, full of charity work and helping those in need. When she wishes on a comet for a different life, Ella finds herself in 2025. She quickly befriends local historian Nick, who urges her to return to the past to complete the good deeds of her life. However, Ella starts to enjoy the present — and her friendship with Nick — and wonders if she wants to go back to the past after all. The movie is a fun holiday romance with a time-travel twist, and the romantic plot line is very sweet, as the leads, Ginna Claire Mason and Wes Brown, have good chemistry.A NEWPORT CHRISTMAS has a strong moral worldview, with a strong emphasis on charity and helping others, whether it’s through organizations or in everyday acts of kindness. The movie also contains themes of friendship and community, as well as Christian elements, such as characters celebrating Christmas and one character telling another she prayed for her. However, there are some light pagan elements, as a character magically time-travels after wishing on a comet. There is also one scene featuring alcohol, as well as scenes with two couples kissing.
