A New Documentary Works To Reveal Mt Sinai’s Location

By Movieguide® Contributor

A new documentary is exploring the evidence for the Biblical Exodus journey that Moses and his followers took to Mt. Sinai.

PATTERNS OF EVIDENCE: JOURNEY TO MT. SINAI is part of Tim Mahoney’s PATTERNS OF EVIDENCE series. Mahoney has also covered the events at the Red Sea, as well as Moses’ own part in the Bible’s story.

A synopsis of the movie reads: “THE JOURNEY TO MT SINAI is the first in a two-film investigation following the Israelites’ journey from the parting of the sea to the mountain. Many different mountains have been proposed as the true location of Mt. Sinai.”

Mahoney explained that his movie will look at the geographical, biblical, and archeological evidence in an effort to ascertain the true location of Mt Sinai.

“People say, ‘What’s your motivation for spending so many years — 20 years — investigating this?’” he said. “But I think it goes back to … when people said that it’s not true. I wanted to find out, ‘Am I believing a fairy tale, or am I believing something that really happened?’”

Mahoney continued, “We’ve got to wake up and pay attention … we’re getting closer and closer to the time of Christ’s return. These films … are to wake people up and to encourage them that this is true. These events happened, and I’m going to give you an opportunity to be interactive about it, and we’re going to learn something more about what happened at that mountain.”

A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

Part I of JOURNEY TO MT. SINAI is an informative, faith-filled movie detailing the major issues involved in deciding which of the six mountains best fits the biblical narrative of the last four books of Moses. As such, the movie gives viewers a closer look at the Exodus story, especially the all-important incident of the burning bush and the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses.
