Actor Kel Mitchell Explains How to ‘Pour’ God’s Love ‘Out to Others’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor Kel Mitchel reminded his followers why it’s important to take time out of their days to worship God and share his love with others.
“Be filled with God’s love every day, alright. If we get filled with God’s love throughout the day, then we are really able to pour this same love out to others,” Mitchell said. “The supernatural, awesome love from God.”
“Think about it as if we are cups,” he continued. “So much of God’s love is being poured into us because we take time to pause multiple times out of the day to acknowledge Him and give Him praise and follow His instructions throughout the day. Our cup is so filled that we start to pour His love out to others. And that is key. Spiritual cup filling is our response to whatever…[so that when] anything happens in our day, our response is going to be God’s love.”
Mitchell’s word is a reminder of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Because we are the Lord’s ambassadors, we ought to represent Him well and faithfully share His love with others. However, as Mitchell explains, this can only be done if we are first filled with God’s love.
For this reason, Paul calls the Lord’s followers to “pray without ceasing” so that they can embody this love.
After growing up a child actor and entering into comedy, Mitchell followed the Lord’s calling and left the entertainment industry to become a pastor. In December 2019, he became a youth pastor at the Spirit Food Christian Center in Los Angeles.
Mitchell now uses his large platform to share the Gospel and encourage others to live a faith-filled, Christ-centered life.

Actor and comedian Kel Mitchell, known for his role in 1997’s GOOD BURGER, recently opened up about how he felt the call to become a pastor. However, Mitchell said that it was not easy to surrender his secular call as a comedian.
The ’90s pop culture icon—also known for ALL THAT, Nickelodeon’s longest-running live-action series that ran from 1994 to 2005, and popular spinoff KENAN & KEL—said that he put his faith in God and jumped headlong into ministry.
“There was a time where I felt like how will it be accepted? You know? How can I do this? I even searched around, like ‘Lord, send me people that have done this’ and I had no other actor or someone in the entertainment business that I could turn to that I knew was a youth pastor but also currently on television,” Mitchell said. “So I was trying to figure that out.”
However, after many years of contemplation, Mitchell said his wife, Asia Lee, encouraged him to step into the new occupation in faith.
