Sometimes life feels easy, but actress Alexa PenaVega thinks it’s important to ask ourselves why.
“When things get easy, Carlos and I both go ‘Yep, that means we need to get into prayer.’ Why is it easy right now? Because either we aren’t a threat to the enemy, and I need to be, or like something…and not like we’re waiting for the ball to drop, but it’s this, like, is our heart posture still in the right place?” the actress said on Sarah Laine McNew’s “Made for More” podcast.
“Because then when trials do come, it’s not like you’re having to kind of figure it out if your heart’s staying the same,” she continued. “Then when things come, you can go, ‘Okay, Lord, wasn’t expecting this, but my heart, I trust you.’ Like it’s not wavering back and forth, teetering on how things, how circumstances go.”

“It’s like a triathlon. It’s like getting hit with a triathlon that you haven’t been training for, but…if you’ve been training the whole time, you could hit that triathlon without any issues. And just like, it’s true. If you’re about to be hit, you better hope you’ve been prayed up,” PenaVega emphasized.
People in the comment section chimed in, reflecting PenaVega’s thoughts.
“God will also always give you seasons of rest. That’s also biblical. They can be short lived, but don’t reject peace for over-working. That also opens a door for the enemy,” one person said. Another added, “I love this with my whole heart because the enemy loves when you let your guard down but God loves when you strengthen your armor!🙌🏻😭 The Lord’s love will prepare you for the storm!”
The apostle Paul urges believers to be ready every day for the spiritual battles we face. He writes in Ephesians 6:10-12, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
PenaVega frequently encourages her audience in their faith. Recently she posted a photo of a simple note which reads, “Refinement seasons feel like delay when you are in them.”
No matter what season you’re in right now, God wants to use it to draw you closer to Him.
