Alexa PenaVega Partners With World Vision to Help Those In Need This Christmas

SPY KIDS star Alexa PenaVega made a trip to the World Vision Toy Distribution Center, where she brought “some pre-Christmas joy” to families this holiday season.

“I think having kids just magnifies the entire experience. I know how little kids are. I know what it feels like to be sad and lonely and to see that kind of community come together today…it was exciting,” she said of her time.

PenaVega shared some of her family’s Christmas traditions.

She explained that because her husband, Carlos PenaVega, grew up in a very Hispanic culture, he would celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. She, however, grew up celebrating on Christmas Day.

So, the two compromised and decided to open presents on Christmas Eve while Christmas Day focused on their faith.

“That’s the day that we really get to celebrate Jesus,” she explained. “We get to have conversations about Him, and it’s great because the kids get really, really into it and they want to talk about the stories of Jesus and the stories in the Bible. For us, that’s just been such a fun way to make Christmas last a little longer. It makes it really powerful and impactful for our entire family.”

PenaVega designed a bracelet that will be featured in the World Vision gift catalog for this holiday season.

“I’m so excited to share that I’ve partnered with @worldvisionusa on designing the beautiful Seeds of Change bracelet for this year’s gift catalog,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Proceeds make a lasting impact on kids in need around the world and would make great gifts this holiday season! #GiftsThatGrow!”

In the video about the bracelet, she said, “Okay guys, I want to talk about making a difference. You might wonder how do I even do that? So many problems in the world seem overwhelming. Well here’s what I would say, ‘Start simple.’ Take this Seeds of Change bracelet, for example, I’m featuring it in the World Vision Gift Catalog. When you choose to give this simple bracelet as a gift, your donation can make a huge impact in the lives of vulnerable kids around the world.”

“The World Vision Christmas Gift Catalog is one of the simplest ways families can address some of the world’s most difficult challenges. Sustained conflict, natural disasters, growing food insecurity, and the need for clean water make World Vision’s work even more important as we respond to global crises and help empower millions of people to lift themselves out of poverty,” said Edgar Sandoval Sr., president and CEO of World Vision.

Actress Melissa Joan Hart also partners with the organization. Movieguide® reported:

Actress Melissa Joan Hart recently returned to Zambia with her husband and their three children to check in on their sponsored children they support through World Vision .

As a World Vision ambassador, Hart works alongside the relief organization to provide clean water, livestock, and many other needs to families in rural Zambia.

“We were so excited to come back to Zambia and see not only the girls we sponsor, but how the area has developed and the work that World Vision’s done in the area,” Hart said in a recent interview. “We were thrilled just coming here, and we couldn’t wait. It was just as wonderful as we expected it to be.”
