AMERICAN IDOL’s Gabby Barrett Shares How Motherhood Transformed Her Life

By Movieguide® Staff

AMERICAN IDOL alumna Gabby Barrett’s career took off after her audition in 2017. Now, the country music star’s focus is on her 3-month-old daughter, Baylah May.

“Oh my gosh, it’s awesome,” Barrett, 20, told People. “It’s a whole new world, honestly. It’s so true all the cliché sayings — when you have kids, everything changes in your world; just flips upside down.

“Now everything’s kind of transformed from me doing it for myself, to me doing it for her now, and I would much rather have it that way,” Barrett added. “She’s just my whole world now. She’s the sweetest, so it’s really cool having her with me.”

Barrett shares Baylah with her husband, Cade Foehner. The couple met on AMERICAN IDOL in 2018 and were married in Oct. 2019. Baylah was born in early 2021.

“Got to spend a very sweet week with our newest addition.. meet our girl,” announced on Instagram.

Barrett recently appeared on the ACM Awards, performing her hit, “The Good Ones.”

It was Barrett’s first public appearance since welcoming her daughter.

“I’m super excited! I’ve always loved dressing up and the idea of prettiness and makeup and hair and all the fun stuff since I was younger,” she confessed. “I’ve had the fair share of sweatpants and big ‘ole t-shirts, especially when I was pregnant and after and all of that, so I am excited to be dressed up and have my hair done and makeup done.”

Not only did Barrett perform at the ACM Awards, but she also won the New Female Artist of the Year Award.
