Andrea Bocelli, Daughter Virginia Release Duet for CABRINI
By Movieguide® Contributor
Storied singer Andrea Bocelli and his daughter Virginia, 11, have just released the inspirational song “Dare To Be,” showcased in Angel Studios’ upcoming movie, CABRINI.
“Dare To Be captures the spirit of Francesca Cabrini, who spent her life bringing light and hope to those who were living on the margins,” said Ryan Svendsen, Head of Music for Angel Studios. “She Dared To Be, and then, with incredible faith and tenacity, turned her dream of an Empire of Hope into reality.”
“We are honored to have the musicality of Andrea Bocelli and Virginia Bocelli whose stunning vocals in this beautifully crafted duet amplify the embodiment of Cabrini’s essence within this incredible film,” Svendsen said.
Andrea Bocelli, Gene Back, Giovanni Caccomo and Courtney Rodriguez are the writers behind the CABRINI end credits song.
With a mixture of Italian and English verses, some of the song’s lyrics are:
Abbandonato al tuo coraggio cado anch’io
fiore d’inverno
We dare to free
Visions unseen
New worlds beyond me
Sea to shining sea
The song will be available via Decca Records on Women’s Day, March 8.
Movieguide®’s review of CABRINI reads:
CABRINI tells the inspiring true story of Mother Cabrini, an Italian immigrant who travels to America in 1889 to live out her God-given mission of caring for orphans on the streets of New York City. Cabrini would later become the patron saint of immigrants, and the first U.S. citizen to be canonized. Cabrini is passionate about her Gospel call to serve children and the poor but is faced with obstacles and adversity every step of the way. Despite sexism, racism and even a terminal illness, Cabrini shows unwavering faith in God and her mission.
CABRINI is a powerful story about Mother Cabrini’s love for the afflicted in America, especially her fellow Italian immigrants. The movie has a strong Christian, moral worldview. It stresses that faith overcomes fear, and that love is stronger than violence. It’s also steeped in Catholic imagery, but features prayer and the reciting of God’s Word. The astounding cinematography, compelling performances, and well-paced story result in an inspiring portrayal of the real-life saint. Due to some violence and adult themes and scenes, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger viewers.
Bocelli said on Instagram on Feb. 23, “I am delighted to announce the release of my new single ‘Dare to Be’, recorded with my daughter Virginia. This song is taken from the motion picture Cabrini which tells the story of famed Roman Catholic missionary and future Saint Francesca Cabrini. It is an ode to the power of belief and perseverance, I hope you enjoy it.”
Bocelli and his 11-year-old daughter performed their first duet in 2020 when they sang a version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” during Bocelli’s BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS TV special.
Express wrote, “Bocelli stunned the world when his talented young daughter joined him on the worldwide stream of his concert from the Teatro Regio di Parma on December 12, [2020].” And according to Classic fm, they sang in “perfect harmony.”
