Fans of HOMESTEAD have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks as Angel Studio revealed new episodes will be released every Wednesday through Christmas, closing out the end of the first season.
“I can’t wait for people to see the series,” said director Ben Smallbone. “If there’s a version of that saying, ‘Preach the Gospel and if necessary, use words,’ that is the series…It’s subtle to the point that you could drag your biggest, baddest atheist friend to the series and the movie and they would be entertained. And it would lead to some incredible conversations.”

This approach to Christian entertainment has proven to be a winning formula as HOMESTEAD has become the most popular piece of content to stream through Angel, accounting for more than 10% of all minutes watched on the platform since it released. Given that the show takes places in a post-apocalyptic world, many might assume it is dark and dreary, but the showrunners put a lot of effort into making sure the story remains uplifting despite the characters’ trials. A portion of Movieguide®’s review of the first two episodes reads:
The first two episodes of HOMESTEAD are a brilliant “faith-based” spin on the “post-apocalypse” genre. The episodes feature top notch performances, writing, editing, and cinematography. They also deliver a strong Christian, moral worldview supporting family, prayer and perseverance in dark times. Jeff and his wife lead the community with perseverance and compassion, despite the circumstances. Moreover, there’s earnest discussion about PTSD, people’s declining mental health, and being able to forgive one’s enemies. However, the series features intense peril, violent shootouts and chaos. As a result, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for teenagers and sensitive adults.
The series began as a movie which set up the premise for the show. The first two episodes of the series were released last December and the final six are now starting to release. Descriptions for the upcoming episodes include “A betrayal from within forces the Homestead leadership to confront harsh realities, while a power struggle emerges that threatens the community’s fragile state,” and “On the eve of an inevitable clash, the community comes together for what might be their last peaceful moments, as unexpected allies emerge from the shadows of a broken world.”
These teasers give fans much to be excited about as the characters prepare for an epic clash as they continue to fight for their survival within their broken down world. The third episode has already been released, and the adventure will continue every Wednesday, with the finale releasing on Christmas Day.
