Two years after releasing CHICKEN RUN: DAWN OF THE NUGGET, animation studio Aardman will continue the story through a new top-down heist video game that follows the gang as they work together to save their species.
“We are delighted to be working with Outright Games to bring a new CHICKEN RUN adventure to the gaming community,” said Sean Clarke, the Managing Director at Aardman. “Developing a game of this scale has been an exciting endeavour and has been a fantastic opportunity to expand the CHICKEN RUN universe and continue building the brand in new and engaging ways for fans old and new.”
“We’re incredibly excited to be working with Aardman on the release of ‘Chicken Run: Eggstraction,’ and the first CHICKEN RUN video game in 25 years,” added Stephanie Malham, the Managing Director of Outright Games, the development studio collaborating with Aardman on the game. “Aardman’s style is so distinct, and it’s been amazing to see how they’ve adapted it for a video game. We cannot wait for fans of all ages to explore this new chapter in the CHICKEN RUN story, and to see how they wing it through the chaos that awaits them.”
“Chicken Run: Eggstraction” was first announced in 2023 when CHICKEN RUN: DAWN OF THE NUGGET was preparing for its release on Netflix. It was originally slated to join Netflix’s suite of games as a Netflix exclusive that would further the story of the movie.
While the plot of the game remains the same, Aardman produced the game outside of the Netflix brand, and it will now release across all major gaming platforms, rather than just through Netflix Games. However it appears it will still be available on that platform as well.
“We didn’t want to rehash to story in the film,” game producer George Rowe said in 2023. “We saw it was an amazing opportunity with Netflix doing games as well to broaden the universe out. We’re around people making the film, it’s in our brains all the time.”

“With ‘Chicken Run: Eggstraction,’ we’ve tried to bottle the soul of a CHICKEN RUN movie,” he added. “You’ve got to study the plans, pick the team with the right skills, and improvise gadgets to sneak into enemy territory…but somehow, it’ll go hilariously wrong – you are chickens, after all!”
“Chicken Run: Eggstraction” is yet to have a release date, though it is likely coming soon. Players will be able to play the game alone or with a friend through local co-op.
