Author James Patterson on The Importance of Prayer and the Church

In a recent podcast interview with Jesus Calling, James Patterson, a successful author, spoke about the importance of prayer and the church.
“I think prayer is really useful,” said Patterson. “But I do think, you know, especially now, more than ever in my lifetime, people just need to go somewhere where they can be at peace and believe that somehow it’s all going to turn out in a good way, you know? And the crazy thing [is] the truth will set you free. I think it does.”
According to the interview, “James Patterson is considered the world’s bestselling author.” Patterson has written over 300 books throughout his life, including books for young adults and kids. Many of his stories have also been adapted to various other kinds of media, including movies, television, and games.
“Grew up pretty much Catholic. My mother taught in a Catholic school. Pretty religious family. And, you know, that’s still the faith that I follow.” Patterson
Patterson co-authored a book with Dolly Parton titled RUN, ROSE, RUN, which the two of them are working with Sony to turn into a movie.
“I think in general, people in the world now are looking for places where truth exists, where people seem to be trying to do the right thing, which is really important,” Patterson said.
Patterson revealed that faith while faith was always a part of his childhood, now he wants to do something significant for the sake of truth.
“I grew up in a small town in upstate New York. Upstate New York is very rural. When people think of New York, they don’t think of upstate New York. A lot of farms.. And I’ll go to mass on most Sundays,” he said.
He added: “What can we do that’s significant, you know? And if you keep remembering it, our time is short. What can we do that’s the most valuable to everybody else and to ourselves and to our own family?”

Parton released an album of songs to go along with the book, and she plans to write and record more songs for the upcoming movie.
“I am thrilled to be bringing Run, Rose, Run to Sony Pictures. I’m looking forward to working with Sony and being in the movie as well. It’s a good time to be excited, working with some of my favorite people,” Parton said of the project.
Patterson echoed her statements, saying, “I want to watch this movie and say, ‘I love this film.’ And that’s exactly why I’m so excited to be working with Hello Sunshine and Sony Pictures. They’re the best at what they do.”
