BACHELOR alum Madi Prewett Troutt recently shared the importance of purity and how it can draw us closer to God.

“I think it’s interesting how the enemy always dangles bait in front of us, but as soon as we fall for it, what is promised is never what is given,” she said during a recent appearance on the “Relatable” podcast.

Troutt revealed she had struggled with consuming pornography as a young woman, saying, “It satisfied for a moment, but then what followed was so much shame and so much separation from God and from godly people.”

She came to understand the importance of purity in not only the body but also the mind.

“Purity is a posture of our heart and God cares so much more about our heart,” Troutt said. “Purity leads us to His presence, and when we experience His presence, He begins to weed out all that other yucky stuff….He’s calling me to purity because He loves me.”

She concluded, “Purity is actually a blessing, and it’s a gift.”

Troutt explores the topic further in her new book, Dare To Be True.

“I’ve never worked harder on a project and I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you all,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “I wrote this book because I know what it’s like to feel stuck: bound by lies, burdened by past mistakes and shame, stuck in sin, and confused by the noise of the world around me.”

Troutt continued, “In a culture flooded with false promises and half-truths, I found myself asking: What is truth? In my search for answers, I discovered a life-changing reality: we all desire freedom, yet many of us live lies. In Dare to Be True, we’ll not only explore how to break free from the lies that bind us, but also how to stay free by anchoring our lives in the Truth that never changes.”

“In reading this book, you will confront what’s holding you back and break free from what is breaking you,” she concluded. “Now is the time to experience the abundant life you were made for— a life of true freedom.”

The former reality star also spoke about becoming a mom. Troutt gave birth to a daughter named Hosanna in January.

In a recent Instagram post, she shared, “Writing this book was one of the most challenging and surreal experiences of my life, but dedicating it to my sweet Hosanna Rose… that’s the part that means the most.”

“It’s literally the best thing in the whole wide world,” she said of becoming a parent. “It’s taught me so much about God’s love. It’s taught me so much about the gospel in a whole new way.”

Troutt’s thoughts on the importance of purity of the mind and body are an inspiration to anyone that might be struggling with feeling far from God — and a reminder that He “cares so much more about our heart.”
