Documentary About These Christian Artists Is a ‘Gift From God’

The producer behind the upcoming tour documentary FOR THE ONE calls the production “a gift from God.”

“I had the incredible privilege of being ushered into what is really a phenomenal convergence of a lot of exciting things, but two remarkably talented guys and what they bring to an evening in a stadium is really exciting,” Ken Carpenter told Movieguide®. “Hopefully, we’ve captured it on film in a way that’ll be a really fulfilling experience for people.”

FOR THE ONE spotlights Christian artists Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham’s 2024 summer concert tour.

“Equal parts behind-the-scenes access and Summer Worship Nights concert footage, experience the fun, friendship, and community as Brandon and Phil point to the reason we do what we do: FOR THE ONE who saved us, and FOR THE ONE who’s lost, but about to be found,” the documentary’s website reads.

Carpenter joked that the movie is “a bit of a bromance” but added, “there’s really something special with what God has brought together here with these two guys.”

While the concert scenes are “remarkable,” Carpenter explained, “Half the movie is the story behind the songs and the men behind the songs. It’s provocative and evocative, and equal parts fun and equal parts serious, in the best ways.”

Carpenter has experience working in the world of music, with credits as a director on music videos for artists like Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant and Steven Curtis Chapman.

“God tapped me on the shoulder,” he explained. “I was invited into this. I wasn’t really looking to do this, [but] what a beautiful surprise. What a great, fun, re-entry into the world of music.”

He continued, “[Making this movie was] a gift from God…it’s been a real, real privilege. To see God at work in the realm of music, in such a powerful way [was] just so cool.”

FOR THE ONE will be in theaters Oct. 27-29 through Fathom Events.

“Coming right on the heels of their hit tour, Fathom is excited to bring this special concert documentary to the big screen,” Ray Nutt, Fathom Events’ CEO, said. “Now fans of Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham can see both of their performances and behind the scenes content on the big screen with their fellow fans.”

Christian artists Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham have just announced FOR THE ONE, an upcoming documentary following the pair on tour.

“Over the past year we’ve been capturing the stories on God’s heart through documenting our own journeys, and the @summerworshipnights Tour,” Lake wrote on Instagram. “Music, vision, worship, and community, FOR THE ONE weaves the songs and the passion of myself and my hero, @philwickham into this tour documentary.”

A synopsis of FOR THE ONE calls it “a groundbreaking film that journeys through the stories that gave flight to the Summer Worship Nights tour.”

“A triumph of music, vision, worship, and community, FOR THE ONE weaves the songs and the passion of Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham into an unforgettable tour documentary,” the description continues.

In a statement about the project, Wickham said, “Never in my life did I think I would be a part of telling a piece of my story in theaters. I hope the stories encountered through this movie show everyone watching how much they are loved by the ONE. I can’t wait to share this with the world and I hope people are encouraged by it.”

Lake echoed his enthusiasm, saying, “My hope for this project is that it would not only show what it takes to go on tour, but why the music and touring mean so much to us. Countless lives have been changed, especially ours. Though we’ve had the opportunity to influence many, our focus remains FOR THE ONE.”
