The Bible verse that received the most engagement on the YouVersion Bible app this year reveals that people want the hope God offers in a world of chaos.
The top verse of 2025 was Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
“I think this verse keeps rising to the top because it addresses one of our deepest needs, the assurance that we’re not alone,” said Bobby Gruenewald, CEO and founder of YouVersion. “In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God’s promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us. That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.”
That verse has taken the top spot four out of the last six years, the Christian Post said. Other top verses this year were Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 12:2.

This information comes as 2025 witnessed a surge in Bible reading around the world.
PR Newswire reported that Sub-Saharan Africa saw a 27% increase in Bible use, while the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa experienced a 33% increase. North American Bible reading grew by 14%.
A report from State of the Bible by the American Bible Society confirms the rocketing interest. “The 2025 data suggest that this potential rebound may be taking root, especially among Millennials and men,” it reported. “Meanwhile, engagement among other groups — including Baby Boomers and women — remains steady.” The report also shows that this year, 41% of adults read the Bible, an an increase from 2024 where that number was 38%.
YouVersion celebrated 1 billion app installs since its debut in 2008 this year as well, further emphasizing people’s growing hunger for God and His word.
“We had absolutely no idea what God was going to do…YouVersion isn’t powerful,” Gruenewald told the Christian Post. “The power is in the Word of God, and we just try to get it into people’s hands.”
They celebrated the milestone with several Instagram posts. One post reads, “A billion reasons to believe God’s Word can be accessed 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. “𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.” — Psalms 67:2 NLT.”
Whether you prefer a hard-copy Bible or a digital version, digging into God’s word is what really matters.
“God is not impressed with what device you use to read your Bible,” a Movieguide® contributor previously wrote. “He won’t love you anymore because you have a physical Bible that has your full given name embroidered on the front, or if you read your Bible on the YouVersion app in a contemporary translation. Jesus cares that you actually spend time in His word, so if reading the Bible on the app is the way you spend time with the Lord, then go for it!”
As we head into 2026, let’s continue to seek God through His word.
