CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD is topping the box office, bringing in over $80 million in its opening weekend.

“This is the first blockbuster weekend of 2025,” senior Comscore analyst Paul Dergarabedian said, per Variety.

The movie made $88.5 million in its box office debut, and experts expect it to reach $100 million by the end of the Presidents Day holiday weekend.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD is also dominating the international box office — The Hollywood Reporter noted that “globally, it’s starting off with $192.4 million after launching to $92.4 million internationally.”

The outlet also reported that the movie had “one of the top domestic openings for the Presidents Day holiday and the biggest opening of 2025 to date.”

“This sets into motion a revival in interest in the MCU, getting the audiences back on board and where they have to see each of these movies because it all ties together,” Dergarabedian told CNN.

Shawn Robbins, director of analytics at Fandango and founder and owner of Box Office Theory, added, “We’ve seen a lot of family movies in particular do well lately, and that’s a very important sign of health for movie theaters and for the box office.”

While CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD does contain violent scenes, as well as some strong language, Movieguide® noted that the movie features a “very strong moral worldview with strong patriotic content,” as well as “some positive Christian, redemptive moments.”

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD sees Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) taking on the role of Captain America and working to stop an international crisis.

“One thing that I’ve always wanted to portray with Sam, and make the focal point of that conversation, is the fact that he’s the best part of all of us,” Mackie said in an interview with TODAY. “Sam didn’t take the [Super Soldier] serum. Sam isn’t a Super Soldier. He’s just a good human being, and I think that’s why we all kind of are endeared to him and kind of appreciate him, because we can see the best of us in him.”
