Mega Country Star Sings This Song With Local Worship Team

Country star Carrie Underwood just made a surprise appearance, joining a local Tennessee church’s worship team.
Underwood sang with the Rolling Hills Community Church’s team, performing Bethel Music’s “Goodness of God.”
“Unexpected blessing this morning, the voice of an angel…I always get to church early to hear the music, and today was a little different!” churchgoer Emily Woods posted on Instagram along with a video of the performance.
A Bethel Music fan page also posted a video of the AMERICAN IDOL winner and the Rolling Hills worship team, writing, “This was a sweet surprise and it blessed me so much. It’s amazing to hear her sing about God as her passion is very evident.”
Underwood often speaks about her Christian faith, telling Guideposts that she and her husband, Mike Fisher, “do all we can to raise our two boys with values like the ones I grew up with in Checotah. Down-to-earth, church on Sundays, plenty of grass and trees and space outside for them to roam. At night, when we put the boys to bed, we pray out loud with them. Just talking to God, letting them know he hears their every word.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Underwood and Fisher’s faith:
“First and foremost is our faith. We know God brought us together and trust his judgment,” Underwood said. “And then just finding, kind of, ways to compromise through it. One of the compromises when I wouldn’t have beef and I would shoot all of my meat with a few exceptions to that, but that’s kind of one of the things that we’ve worked on.”
“You know, we’ve been as the world sees it, blessed with a lot of things and doing what we love to do, and money, and fame. But there is no true happiness in the things that everyone sees that should be great with us apart from a real relationship with God and with Jesus,” Fisher added.
“We’re not perfect, we don’t have a perfect marriage, but we have that one thing in our faith and that’s why we’re here is to glorify God with what we’ve been given and hopefully we point people to the answer. That’s what we want to be.”
Underwood is currently preparing to return to AMERICAN IDOL — this time, as a judge.
“This upcoming season marks 20 years since Carrie won America’s hearts on ‘Idol’ and launched her successful multi-Grammy Award-winning career. As a former Idol and dynamic musical force, she brings a remarkably unique perspective to one of the most popular shows on television,” said Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, in a press release. “This is a full-circle moment both for the show and audiences at home who have been tuning in for over two decades. Welcome home, Carrie.”
