Gospel artist CeCe Winans recently sang in Charlottesville, Virginia, to memorialize the lives of the three University of Virginia football players who died after a school field trip.
Winans, 58, gave a brief, gospel-centered message and sang her song, “Goodness of God.”
“We know we serve a God who’s able to take us through,”Winans. “And He’s gonna take you through one day at a time. I pray that all of us would understand the beauty of life and that we would make the decision to accept Jesus as our Savior, so that whenever the time comes for us to leave here, young or old, that we’re ready.”
“Remember that God loves you, that He’s with you, and that He’s good,” she continued.
Devin Chandler, Lavel Davis, Jr., and D’Sean Perry were also remembered by their UVA football coach Tony Elliott, who held fast to “God’s purpose” amid the tragedy.
“Only time will reveal God’s purpose in this adversity,” he said. “Going forward I’m confident that all three are rejoicing in paradise, speaking good things on behalf of each of us in preparation for the time we will all be together again.”
