Chip and Joanna Gaines Celebrate 10 Years of FIXER UPPER With New Project

By Movieguide® Contributor

Chip and Joanna Gaines are back with a fun new project! The FIXER UPPER couple will work on a 1960s lakeside property for their next series titled FIXER UPPER: THE LAKEHOUSE.

“I think with this lakehouse, there’s something about it that just feels significant that this project landed on our 10-year FIXER UPPER anniversary. So, it kind of feels like it was really meant to be,” Joanna said in a video posted to her Instagram.

PEOPLE reported, “The couple’s original series, FIXER UPPER, debuted in May 2013 on HGTV and aired for five seasons before they announced in 2017 that it would be ending. After launching their own network, the Gaineses rebooted the show, first with FIXER UPPER: WELCOME HOME, which followed a similar format to the original and later with FIXER UPPER: THE CASTLE, and FIXER UPPER: THE HOTEL.”

“When Fixer Upper premiered 10 years ago, we couldn’t have imagined the journey we had ahead of us,” the Gaineses said in a statement about THE LAKEHOUSE. “Though a lot has changed and evolved in the decade between then and now, our love for home is still at the heart of everything we do. We feel honored that we get to continue pouring into the stories of these homes across Waco, and we’re excited to share our latest project with you this summer with FIXER UPPER: THE LAKEHOUSE.”

“We’re so excited to see how Chip and Jo will tackle this lakehouse in Waco and flex their renovation and design muscles in ways our viewers have never seen before,” said Allison Page, President of Magnolia Network. “Since the premiere of FIXER UPPER in 2014, they have amassed a huge global fanbase and grown a beloved lifestyle brand from the ground up, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this milestone alongside them this year.”

FIXER UPPER: THE LAKEHOUSE will air June 2 on Magnolia Network, HGTV, Max and Discovery+.

Chip and Joanna Gaines are celebrating 10 years of FIXER UPPER with a new season of the show—FIXER UPPER: THE LAKEHOUSE.

According to Variety, FIXER UPPER: THE LAKEHOUSE “follows Chip and Joanna as they take on a unique mid-century modern lakehouse flip near Lake Waco, a new neighborhood for the home renovation duo based in Waco, Texas…”

The couple also announced the new show on social media with a funny video that shows Joanna searching for Chip in a house they’re working on. She finally finds him — relaxing on a float in the lake.

“Only the lake could pull Chip away from #DemoDay!” the caption reads. “#FixerUpperTheLakehouse with @chipgaines and @joannagaines premieres Sunday, June 2 on #MagnoliaNetwork.”
