In 2022, actress Danica McKellar underwent a massive transformation: she gave her life to God and became a Christian.
In a discussion with Jennifer Vickery Smith on the “Got It From My Mama” podcast, McKellar shared the moment she realized the truth about Jesus.
“This feeling like, oh, I finally get it. All the things and impulses and desires and things that I’ve wanted to do and not feeling like I fit in,” she said. “And it all just crystallized for me. ‘Oh, this is it? This all makes sense. It all makes sense now.’”
As an actress who frequently stars in wholesome romantic comedies on Great American Pureflix, McKellar relates her moment of finding Jesus to when her characters find “the one.”

“I told Candace [Cameron Bure] one time, I said, ‘This is like, one of our romantic comedies.’ I’m like, it’s like, when you say, ‘It’s you, it’s always been you.’ Jesus, it’s you,” she laughed.
McKellar has been open about her salvation story ever since, sharing how Candace Cameron Bure encouraged her along the way.
“So, long story short, three years ago I began my faith journey,” she said in a previous Instagram Live. “I didn’t even know it was going to be happening. My friend Candace [Cameron Bure] brought me to church. And, I always, like, believed in some sort of higher power God thing. Somehow, I knew there was more to it than how we see it, I knew there was more to it than what science can explain. But it hadn’t crystallized for me. And I had a bias against Christianity and the whole Jesus thing…I just didn’t have a good feeling about it and…[When I went to church] it was a revelation, it was an intellectual one and an emotional one.”
While she grows in her faith, she also stays busy with her acting career. Next month, her movie GROUNDED IN LOVE, a GAF romantic comedy starring her and Trevor Donovan, will premiere.
“A spirited, Manhattan-based flight attendant, thrives on adventure and freedom, until an unexpected airline merger grounds her career and a breakup with a self-absorbed boyfriend leaves her questioning everything,” a synopsis reads. “Searching for clarity, Annie takes a road trip to her grandmother’s rural Kentucky farm – a place she hasn’t visited in years, though holds close to her heart.”
At the farm, Annie reconnects with childhood friend, Jake.
“As two old friends reconnect, Annie rediscovers what matters most – family, faith, community, and the kind of love that stays rooted when everything else seems uncertain.”
McKellar is a great example of someone who has truly been born again. John 5:24 describes her testimony perfectly: “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
The salvation she found in Christ is available to you, too.
