Danica McKellar Turns 50 and Can’t Wait to Grow Closer to God

Danica McKellar hit a big milestone this year — she just turned 50! And she can’t wait to grow closer to Jesus this year.

“I feel fine,” the Great American Family actress told Woman’s World about her age. “I’m grateful that there are a lot of role models out there who have blazed the trail before me. When I was a kid, I thought 40 was old and oh, I was wrong. It’s how you take care of yourself. I feel pretty good and I’m really grateful. I’ll just keep doing whatever I can to try to feel as healthy as I can.”

McKellar gushed about her birthday and her gratitude to everyone who helped her celebrate in a recent Instagram post.

“My 50th birthday party!! I am still just pinching myself from this weekend- what a sparkly, fun, love-filled night!! ✨️💕 Friends and family wore sequins (they understood the assignment- swipe to see what I mean!) and had a blast on the dance floor – I’ll post some instastories of that! Some even flew on an airplane (!) to be there, like my dear friends @candacecbure, @jasonhervey, and my sister Crystal & her family!” she wrote.

As for this year, growing closer to God is her primary goal.

“I want to continue deepening my relationship with God and not taking His blessings for granted,” she said.  She shared how The Bible Recap app helps her to do that.

“The app is great because it tells you what to read or listen to every day. It helps you stay on track and know what you’ve read throughout the year. My faith journey just started two and a half years ago, and I try to keep it fresh because the gratitude and comfort, the peace that surpasses understanding, God’s love is our greatest gift,” she explained. “It’s a wonderful, beautiful feeling, and all we have to do is ask for help when we are feeling stressed out. So, my resolution is to stay grateful for my support, my family, my health and everything that I’ve gotten and give all the glory to God.”

An invitation to church from her friend and GAF costar Candace Cameron Bure sparked McKellar’s faith.

“Fast forward to Palm Sunday…I went to church with her,” she said on the “Human Hope” podcast. “We saw this Passion Play, and it…just got right in. I like to say, ‘I don’t know what happened,” but my dad says, ‘The Holy Spirit entered you, that’s what happened.’”

She’s so grateful to Bure for inviting her to church that day and supporting her faith journey ever since.

“Candace, I don’t want to brush over the huge, huge impact that you’ve had on my life this year,” the actress said while appearing on “The Candace Cameron Bure” podcast. “You gave me this Bible that I read all the time, and I love it so much, and I go to church now, and I talk to Jesus all the time, every day. It’s unbelievable. And you were like my guide. You were just an angel in my life, and you still are. And I just want to thank you for that publicly.”
