Danica McKellar Shares Theory About Why We Need Christmas Movies
By Movieguide® Contributor
Danica McKellar says Christmas movies are “a reminder of what human nature can be.”
“People need comfort [and to] escape this crazy world,” she told Fox News. “More than an escape, it provides a reminder of what human nature can be,” she told Fox News Digital. “We need that. We need that reminder. We need, yes, the feeling of comfort, but also ideas for how to move forward in a wholesome, earnest kind of way.”
McKellar added that, while Christmas movies don’t contain a lot of drama, they still show struggles that people deal with every day.
“What you see is a character in earnest really doing her best, pushing through and trying to make good choices along the way,” she said. “So that’s what we can model for people in the midst of just giving them, yes, comfort food around the holiday season, which it’s important to feel those warm and fuzzy feelings around the holidays.”
McKellar’s latest Christmas movie? A CINDERELLA CHRISTMAS BALL, which follows “Chelsea Jones, a dance instructor, as she travels to the small European country of Havenshire in search of her heritage during the Christmas break,” per IMDb.
McKellar stars alongside Oliver Rice.

“This is a wonderful experience for me,” she told Fox News. “It’s been amazing because I got to write the script with someone else, but it’s the first time my name is on the script for one of these movies, and it’s really gratifying. Plus, I get to waltz in it! I love ballroom dance, as I think everybody knows who follows me on social media.”
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said in a statement, “Royal movies are among our viewers’ favorites. Finding love when and where you least expect it is the heart of royal fan fiction and Danica and Oliver do a brilliant job of making heartfelt wishes come true.”
“Oliver Rice exudes a dashing Cary Elwes-vibe,” McKellar added. “Oliver grew up in London and graduated from Oxford School of Drama and brings genuine nobility to the role of Prince Phillip. I cannot wait for fans to see him in the film.”
