Christian Singer’s 13th Wedding Anniversary Displays God’s Redemptive Plan

Christian artist Danny Gokey just celebrated 13 years of marriage with his wife, Leyicet.
In a post to Instagram, he shared the special milestone with his followers.
“We celebrated 13 years of marriage this weekend,” he began. “If you look at my wiki it says we got married January 29th, 2012 but we truth is—we secretly got married on November 30th, 2011 and went on our honeymoon. We did this because it’s what we wanted to do.”
Gokey continued by explaining how the couple had a public wedding celebration several months after they actually said I do.
“Our public wedding and celebration was on 1/29/2012. It’s crazy to think how much our lives have changed in 13 years. Lots of highs and lots of lows but Gods love and our love for each other, carried us through it all. I know that God hand-picked @leyicet for me after walking through the unexpected loss of my first wife. Through her He has showed me how much He loves me. I’m grateful for her, and I’m grateful for our family. I’m grateful for our children and the home that we have built. Here’s to more years of love, laughter and unity.”
Fans celebrated the milestone with the Gokeys.
“You are BLESSED!! Happy Anniversary you guys. Such a cute couple ?” one user said.
Another person added, “Congratulations and wishing you decades more! Beautiful family. ❤️”
Gokey’s first wife, Sophia, died after a routine surgery for a congenital heart disease, which led the singer to lean on God in tragedy and audition for AMERICAN IDOL.

“I’ll tell you this: I wanted to take my own life. I hated the pain I was in…Even though I didn’t want to go, I’m glad I did because it expanded my view of the world. The show actually helped bring me healing,” he shared.
Through the trials and joys he’s experienced, though, Gokey sees God at work.
“I’ve been through some seasons where God has put me through some intense trials,” he said, “but I’m going to tell you this: It’s all to refine my character so that when He does give the provision, He does give the blessing, He does give the ministry, I remember that it’s because it’s God’s will — not mine — and this is something that I’m able to steward.”
