THE CHOSEN star Jonathan Roumie has a special skill fans might not know about.

The actor joined Christian artist Phil Wickham onstage at ChosenCon to play drums.

“That drummer looks familiar…” THE CHOSEN wrote in the caption of video featuring the two leading worship.

Roumie played drums for a band in college, and last year, he contributed his musical skills to Michael W. Smith’s song “Arms Around the Sun.”

“I couldn’t be more honored to get to play with the legend himself and my dear friend @mwsmithofficial,” Roumie posted on Instagram last April. “Thank you Michael, and @_teddt_ for letting me be part of such a fantastic track. This all happened kinda spontaneously (I maintain I was ‘tricked’ into this recording by Tedd and Michael 😂). Can’t believe I got to do it. It’s a banger!! 🔥 SO fun.”

Whether playing the drums or working on THE CHOSEN, the actor attributes his success to God.

“I think you always hope that we will experience a modicum of the kind of global success that we have, but you never know when you’re first starting out — especially when the context was like, okay, there’ll be four episodes of this crowdfunded show that premieres on a streaming app that nobody’s ever heard of that was literally built for this show. Like, what are the chances it’s going to go anywhere?” Roumie told Cherry the Geek TV at ChosenCon of the series’ beginning.

The actor continued, “And none of us knew it would go anywhere, including Dallas. And then when it did, and when it was released, and the success it saw during the pandemic — and God’s humor and how He can take the worst events happening in human history and make them for the good of His mission and His word and His message to the world of hope and mercy and compassion — it just continues to blow our mind.”

“It’s given me a fan base. It means that the work we’re doing as actors telling this story has been effective,” Roumie added. “It’s been evangelizing for people. It’s been life-changing for so many people. And it makes you realize, as a performer, as an artist, that working on projects that have impact and have meaning are the highest level of entertainment.”

ChosenCon took place Feb. 19-21 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

It seems that Roumie is a man of many talents, all of which he uses to glorify God.
