Former TobyMac Backup Singer Says Debut Album Is ‘Rooted In Christ’

Former TobyMac backup singer Terrian has just released her debut album, “Give It Time,” a process she says was a three-year journey.
“I’m relieved, I will say that!” she told The Christian Beat of the album’s release. “I looked back through photos and voice memos and realized, ‘Oh, my goodness, I’ve been working on this slowly for the past three years.’”
Terrian continued, “It’s just finally out and I’m so excited about it! It feels good.”
“Give It Time” features singles like “Big God,” “Honestly, We Just Need Jesus” and “Give It Time.”
“The heart of this album is about waiting,” Terrian shared, adding that that was why she decided to make “Give It Time” the title track of the album.
She elaborated on that theme of waiting in an interview with Niagara Frontier Publications, saying, “I’ve been living with open hands and trusting the Lord’s timing. That’s what this whole album is about: waiting. Waiting can be hard, especially when things aren’t going the way you thought they would. Waiting has been hard, but at the same time, it’s been eye-opening. I’m grateful for the time to figure out who I am as an artist.”
Terrian also shared what she hopes listeners take away from the project.
“Everything that we’re doing is first and foremost rooted in Christ, and you know, it flows out of that relationship,” she said. “I just hope, in whatever way people need to grapple or grasp or wrestle with the Lord…I hope that they’re able to do that somehow through this music.”
The singer celebrated the release of “Give It Time” on Instagram, writing, “I’ve been trying to find the words to say today and honestly, I can’t really find the words. First, it’s truly surreal to have this project release. Secondly, I’m just grateful y’all. So grateful because the Lord is so kind. To everyone who played a role in making this happen, thank you. I’m forever grateful.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the launch of Terrian’s career:
Former Toby Mac backup singer Terrian Woods is striking out on her own and finding success as a solo artist.
“I just knew it was what I was supposed to do for a long time ever since I was a little girl,” she said of her music career. “I just want to spread the gospel. I think that’s what we’re called to do.”
Her latest single, “Big God,” has already racked up 1.5 million views on YouTube and over 3 million streams on Spotify.
“Sometimes you can convince yourself that your problems are bigger than God, and it’s just not true. He sees things in a way we don’t see it,” Woods said of the inspiration behind the song. “I like that the song is upbeat, but lyrically, it means a lot. It’s gotten me out of bed a few times, just listening to it.”
