Gary Sinise Brings 1,800 Families of Fallen Veterans to Disney World

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor and veteran advocate Gary Sinise recently shared that he is bringing over 1,800 families of fallen veterans on a trip to Disney World.

“With the families of our fallen heroes for our @garysinisefoundation Snowball Express Annual event as they depart to the most magical place on Earth, Disney World,” Sinise wrote on Instagram along with a photo of him on an airplane with the families.

“We’re taking over 1,800 family members, the children and surviving spouses. It’s always an honor to wrap my arms around them and remind them we do not forget their hero,” he continued. “Thank you to our presenting sponsor American Airlines for taking extra care of these special families, providing 11 chartered planes!”

“Next week we do it all again for the families of our fallen first responders,” he added in another post following the first trip to Disney.

“Uplifting the surviving children and spouses of those who gave their last measure to our country and communities, right before the holidays which is often a difficult time for these families, is incredibly special to me and our mission at Gary Sinise Foundation,” Sinise continued. “Thank you to all our incredible corporate sponsors, our staff, volunteers, and to all of you who support our mission. We hugged each and every one of them for you.”

Sinise and his foundation host the Snowball Express every year.

“The holidays can be especially challenging for grieving families. Each December, we host a five-day experience for 1,750+ children of the fallen and the surviving spouse/guardian. With special time to honor their fallen and a blend of fun entertainment and inspiring programs, these families can lean on their peers for support. Which is why we keep bringing Snowball Express back to Walt Disney World® Resort each year!” the actor’s foundation shared.

Through his foundation, Sinise has made it his mission to serve military members and their families despite having no military experience himself.

The foundation aims to “serve our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.”

Movieguide® previously reported on why Sinise serves our nation’s veterans and their families:

Sinise has spent years supporting the armed forces and veterans and frequently speaks about his admiration for them.

“Regardless of whether you are left or right, Republican or Democrat, conservative, liberal, whatever, our defenders defend us all,” Sinise said, “and having been in the military community for so long, I have met extraordinary people serving our country.”

He continued, “We all need heroes, people to look up to and aspire to. I think that we, as a grateful nation, can always do a little more to support them in their time of need.”
