Gospel singer CeCe Winans believes that an important part of parenting is including the Holy Spirit.
“If you just keep praying and believing, God will reach your children no matter how far they are,” Winans said in an episode of PRAISE. “No matter how far they are in the spirit or in the natural. God is there.”
“So be encouraged and keep praying and keep believing. Ask the Holy Spirit, ‘What do I do?’ Even with your grown children,” she explained. “Because God knows.”
Parents think they know what their kids need, but in reality, they don’t know. God does.
“I really had to understand that I needed the Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me in cultivating my relationships with my children so that they could have a stronger relationship with him,” Winans said.

“The one thing I would do differently if I had the chance to go back and raise my children again would be to invite the Holy Spirit into every moment,” she told CBN.
She encouraged parents to consult the Holy Spirit before making any decision and set an example for kids by letting them see you pray.
“Allow them to see you pray — ‘Lord, give me wisdom on what to do about this.’ …Invite Him in more, so that they can be used to following the Holy Spirit,” she said.
On Instagram last year, Winans said, “Never stop praying and believing for your children. Make your mind up that you’re going to keep believing no matter how long it takes! 💜”
Winans has looked to the example her parents set as she parented her kids.
“They didn’t just teach us the Word — they lived it in front of us,” she said. “I would not be who I am today — strong in my faith — I would not without that family foundation, without them making us go to church, even when we didn’t want to.”
“My parents honored God in our home,” she said. “Because of that, I was able to be bold; I was never confused about what holiness looks like. That helped me with peer-pressure…It prepares your children to be who God has called them to be with no apologies.”
Whether your children are young or adults, Winans shows that it’s important to never stop praying, always seek the Holy Spirit and live by example.
