‘God on Our Side’: Chip Gaines Fights to Keep Coach Scott Drew at Baylor
By Movieguide® Contributor
HGTV star Chip Gaines has a new mission: to keep Baylor’s basketball head coach, Scott Drew, at the university.
Drew is a candidate for the University of Kentucky as it searches for a new head coach, but that won’t happen if Gaines has anything to say about it.
Barstool Kentucky shared a tweet of Chip and his wife, Joanna, that read, “Keep these two away from Scott Drew for the next 48 hours.”

To which Chip replied, “Y’all wish.”
Many fans and followers replied to the tweet with playful banter.
One person wrote, “You don’t wanna go band for band with us, Chip?????”
“Money is boring.. everybody’s got money. We’ve God God on our side,” the HGTV star responded.

Another user, Dillon Collins, supported Gaines’ position, saying, “Hard to come at a guy who is loved by every mom in America.”
Gaines replied, “Listen to Dillon, coach.. it’ll save you some grief come thanksgiving.”
Drew also got in on the action, further fueling the X storm.
He posted a photo of him and Eric Shero, the chief financial officer at Alliance Bank, having lunch together in Waco, Texas.
Drew wrote, “Great lunch spot in Waco on a rainy day. No better friend and supporter than Eric Shero and Alliance Bank!”
While it looks like a new picture, X users think it might be old.
One telltale sign is that the TV in the background is playing an old FAMILY FUED episode from 2020. Fans were so eager to find out the truth that they called the restaurant to find out if Drew and Shero were there.
We’ve got UK fans figuring out what restaurant Scott Drew is at from a picture and calling the restaurant to talk to him.
We also have Chip Gaines getting into it with UK fan accounts and implying that Drew will stay at Baylor because it’s God’s will.
And yet I still need more
