Grammy-nominated artist Tauren Wells thinks Psalm 34:19 might be the encouragement you need today.

“The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time,” the verse reads.

“I know that sometimes the time is the problem, the timeline, the timing when we’re going through something really, really difficult and really painful,” Wells said in an Instagram video. “I know that there have been things in my life where I wish I could accelerate whatever God was doing, and yet, though He may not do it on our time, He will do it in time. And that is the promise for every believer that’s walking through something hard today.”

Wells encouraged his listeners that no matter where they are in life, they can continue to trust in God, because He is the one who orders our steps.

“And I don’t know if that’s something that’s affecting your body, something that’s affecting your mind, some area of brokenness in your life — we don’t lose hope, and we don’t just defer our freedom, our healing, our progress, to some later point in an eternal future, but we continue to believe for it all right now that God is going to deliver us every time, free from it all, healed from it all, whole,” the Christian music artist continued. “And I hope that that speaks to your heart today and that you find hope and trust in God through whatever process God has you in.”

Wells’ reflection on Psalm 34:19 reminds us that while hardship is inevitable, it does not have the final word. We ought to shift our focus from a me-centric mindset to a God-centric one, seeking His peace in the process rather than just the outcome.
