In the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints selected Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson as the eighth overall pick.

Tyson was overcome with emotion as he heard his name called. When speaking with the media after the draft, he couldn’t help but praise God for the opportunity.

“So thankful, so blessed. The Lord is doing a work on me. He’s not done. Let’s keep this thing rolling. I’m gonna give it my all, and that’s all I can do,” Tyson said in a video shared by Christhlete.

He credited God with his football journey when he initially declared for the NFL Draft in December.

“First off, and most importantly, I want to thank God. It’s because of God that I have an amazing family that supported me through the ups and downs of the game of football, and instilled work ethic and discipline in me at a young age that not only helped me with football, but life as well,” he shared on Instagram.

“It’s because of God I’m here at ASU, playing the game I love on the biggest stage possible, living out a dream that once started as a prayer. It’s because of God,” Tyson continued. “I’ve been surrounded by incredible teammates and coaches who have pushed me, believed in me and helped me grow both on and off the field, and I always have love for each and every one of them.”

The wide receiver added, “It’s because of God that I get to perform in front of the best fans in the world, giving out energy and support every time I get on the field. It’s because of God I’ve endured some of the harder challenges in my life, knowing He was using every obstacle to prepare me for what’s next and make me even stronger. On the other side, it’s because of God I have this platform, not only to help and motivate others, but to point more people towards him.”

Tyson got baptized in March last year, a day he will never forget.

“March 19th is a day to remember forever. I was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. I serve a perfect and amazing God and I am nothing without Him,” he posted on social media.

Tyson knows if it weren’t for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in today. The wide receiver can’t wait to play for the Saints and make an impact on and off the field.
