Former NFL safety Jordan Babineaux knows that “God’s not done” with his life after football.
“I would say early on in some of the things that God has done in my life and being able to do the things that I’ve done has far exceeded my boldest dreams for myself,” Babineaux declared on a new episode of the “Sports Spectrum Podcast.”
“And here’s what I know, man, is that God’s not done,” he continued. “I mean, there’s so much ahead of me, and I look back with great joy and admiration for what I accomplished. I understand that playing Division Two college football and playing nearly a decade in the NFL is something that is very, very, very rare. Now look, .2, .3% of all high school players will make it to the NFL, but being an undrafted free agent, playing Division Two college football, and playing nine years in it, I know that is that, that’s two part.”

Babineaux played his career with the Seattle Seahawks and the Tennessee Titans. Known as “Big Play Babs,” he played in “Super Bowl XL with the Seahawks and made the famous tackle on Tony Romo after a botched field-goal attempt in the 2006 NFC Wild-Card Game between Seattle and Dallas,” per Sports Spectrum.
He retired in 2012.
Babineaux knows that God gave him the opportunities in football, but he also worked hard to see those opportunities succeed.
“God’s doing his part, but I did mine too. Like it wasn’t just some miracle or luck or something that I walked into. No, no, no, I showed up every day with that consistency of what I just talked about,” he emphasized. “So I’ll share this with our youth, and anyone who’s going through anything or looking to achieve something, is that sometimes it doesn’t look as clear as the sky.
“Sometimes it’s not clear. Sometimes you don’t know. Obstacles will tell you otherwise,” he added. “Sometimes your inner voice will tell you otherwise. But there are two things to hold on to. One is hold on to the faith and the promise, and the other is the work that needs to go into you, doing what it needs to take to achieve the life, the goal, the things that you want for yourself.”
Babineaux’s life is an important reminder to seize the opportunities God puts before us, putting in the work while also knowing that He is never finished with us.
