Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld Takes on Late-Night Rivals for RNC Coverage

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld is slated to compete head-on with the biggest names in late-night TV during all four nights of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
The Fox News host will air live at 11 p.m. EST, immediately following the end of the RNC coverage for that day. During his show, he will recap the biggest events that took place, while providing commentary on the day as a whole.
This time slot will put him in direct competition with Jon Stewart of THE DAILY SHOW, with the second half of the hour butting heads with THE LATE SHOW (Stephen Colbert), THE TONIGHT SHOW (Jimmy Fallon) and JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! All four of these shows also plan on covering the occurrences of the RNC as well.
GUTFELD! has served as a successful take on late night in the past, averaging 2.2 million viewers last year — its highest ratings ever. Since its launch in 2021, GUTFELD! has increased its viewer base by 47%, with its earlier time slot helping it reach younger audiences.
Following its launch, it dominated other late-night shows. “For the first time in a full week (August 16-22), the show dubbed GUTFELD! scored a larger audience than Jimmy Fallon on NBC, Jimmy Kimmel on ABC and Stephen Colbert on CBS,” Newsweek reported in 2021.
He extended his contract with Fox News earlier this year.
“Greg is a true original whose trademark political and cultural commentary, humor and gifted writing has deeply connected and grown with our audience for more than 17 years,” Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, said earlier this year when the network extended his contract. “Upon launching GUTFELD! three years ago, he rapidly disrupted the status quo to become the most-watched host in the genre with more viewers tuning in to his show than any other late-night program on television. We are proud to be the home of Greg, his unparalleled analysis and late-night’s highest-rated program for many years to come.”
“Since joining the network in 2007, Fox News has given me the freedom to be unabashedly myself and, in turn, deliver a distinctive experience for our audience,” Gutfeld added. “There aren’t many platforms that allow this type of creative independence and I’m proud to be a part of Suzanne’s team.”
Gutfeld’s special coverage of the RNC will begin on July 15.
