Why Guy Fieri’s Sons Are Thankful He Didn’t Give Them an Easy Road to Success

Guy Fieri is one of the most recognizable names in food today; however, his kids will have to earn their way into his culinary kingdom, something they are grateful for.
“I mean everything, you know, he’s a great father. But work hard and perseverance and just learn as you go,” Fieri’s son Hunter told Fox New Digital when asked what he’s learned from his father. “Just keep working hard, keep your head up. He’s taught me a lot about culinary.”
Fieri’s rule is that his sons will only be allowed into the family business once they have earned two college degrees, including a post-graduate degree.
“Shaq said it best. Shaq said it about his kids one time. He says, ‘If you want any of this cheese, you’ve got to give me two degrees,’” Fieri said last December. “Well, my two degrees mean, you know, postgraduate. So they’re on their way.”
“And I told my boys, none of this that we’ve been… that I’ve been building are you going to get unless you come and take it from me,” Fieri added.
The culinary icon shares two sons, Hunter and Ryder with his wife, Lori. They have also raised Fieri’s nephew, Jules since he was young. Fieri is extremely proud of all that his kids have already achieved and is excited to see what their future holds.
“Jules was in the law program at Loyola Marymount. Ryder’s graduating high school. Hunter’s in the master’s program at the University of Miami. I told them, if these guys want it, they gotta give me two degrees,” Fieri told Entertainment Tonight at the Super Bowl Flavortown tailgate. Two post-grad and then they can go after it. But they’re gonna run this show. I will be out folks.”
Despite his strict parenting, Fieri’s number one priority is his family. This has helped him stay grounded since coming to fame. He wants to make sure his kids have a solid foundation as well, and not let his fame get to them either.

Famous TV chef Guy Fieri recently revealed his commitment to family, as well as how he has raised his sons to be self-sufficient and care for others.
In a new interview with People, Fieri spoke about the things he achieved in his long career and his personal life.
Reflecting on his fame, Fieri said, “Most of my friends will [say] I haven’t changed. I think it’s because when I got into television, I’d already done what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a great dad. Family is always the first priority.”
The chef also talked about how he kept his sons grounded.
“You know what Ryder drove to school [when] he got his license? He got my parents’ old, used 259,000-mile Chrysler minivan,” he shared. “I want the boys to be self-sufficient.”
