Jenny Marrs Reminds Followers to Seek Beauty: ‘An Intentional Choice’
By Movieguide® Contributor
HGTV star Jenny Marrs recently reminded her followers to focus on the beauty found throughout life.
“If you’ve lived long enough, you know antonyms like joy and sorrow coexist,” she captioned a photo of her smiling with sheep in a grassy field.
“The same is true for remarkable beauty and normal life. Seeking beauty is an intentional choice: We can choose to bemoan the handprints on the windowpane, or we can pause to watch as a curious toddler pounds out a rhythm on his newfound makeshift drum,” Marrs continued.
She added, “We can choose to close the door, lamenting over the unused room where clutter has piled up, or we can reimagine the space and create a writing room or an art studio or a playroom for the kids.”
Marrs continued, explaining that it’s our choice whether we focus on the good or bad things in life.
“We can choose to give a foothold to shame – our home is too small, our dishes are chipped, the bathroom remodel is still half-finished or we can throw open the door and fill the table with friends and serve take-out pizza on paper plates.”
This excerpt comes from her book “House + Love = Home,” which will be released on November 14.
“Alongside gorgeous photos of the Marrs’ restored farmhouse, their delightful kids, and many other spaces they’ve reimagined, Jenny and Dave share their personal journey of establishing their own home, an ever-growing family and a busy, sustainable business,” a description of the book reads. “Woven throughout are wonderful essays by Jenny about their lives on the Marrs farm and how they seek to live intentionally with a deep abiding faith and purpose.”
“I didn’t want to write a standard how-to guide for decorating or renovating your home,” she explained on Instagram. “…honestly, I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all guide that accounts for personal style and preference. Instead, I want this book to encourage you to be creative with your home.”

Marrs, who stars on the hit HGTV renovation show alongside her husband Dave, took to Instagram to share her gratitude for the opportunity to become an author.
“When I was in fourth grade, I wrote a book for class titled ‘Run Away Horse.’ It went on to be entered in the young author’s conference and I received a button that said ‘I’m An Author,’ which I fastened to my backpack and proudly toted around school. After receiving the button, I declared: this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be an author,” she recalled in a recent Instagram post.
“Which leads me here: in absolute awe that God opened the doors and led me on a windy, often unexpected, path to this exact moment. A moment He planted in my heart of hearts all those years ago,” she added. “I’m humbled, overjoyed and nervous to share the big news that I’ve written a book!”
