An upcoming star-studded animated adaptation of ANIMAL FARM has officially been acquired by Angel Studios.
“Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’ has never felt more relevant,” director and producer Andy Serkis said in a statement. “In an age where power, propaganda, and inequality shape our societies, it’s vital that we remember his cautionary tale.”
He continued, “This adaptation isn’t just a story for entertainment — it’s a reminder that democracy, freedom, and integrity are fragile, and must be watched over. My hope is that audiences walk away moved, thoughtful, and inspired to stand up for the values that matter. I’m honored that Angel and the Angel Guild are willing to bring this film to big screens around the world.”
Serkis, a noted voice actor with previous credits in THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and the PLANET OF THE APES movies, will also play two characters in the movie. He is joined by Seth Rogen, Glenn Close, Woody Harrelson, Gaten Matarazzo, Kieran Culkin, Laverne Cox, Steve Buscemi, Jim Parsons, Iman Vellani, and Kathleen Turner.

“This is a project of tremendous heart,” Brandon Purdie, executive vice president of theatrical and brand development at Angel, said in a statement. “Andy Serkis’ visionary direction, combined with this powerhouse cast, creates a film that feels timely, urgent, and deeply human — even though the protagonists might be pigs, donkeys, and horses. We’re confident that moviegoers will see not just a story of farm animals, but a mirror held up to our world today.”
Adam Nagle, CEO of Aniventure added, “We are thrilled to partner with Angel Studios, as their unique connection with audiences, amplified by an exceptional marketing team, ensures this story will get in front of as many people as possible. We are incredibly proud of this adaptation we have made and can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
This isn’t the only exciting project Angel Studios has on the way. Animated movie DAVID tells the familiar story of the biblical figure — with a musical twist! — and will premiere in theaters December 19.
In February, romantic comedy SOLO MIO will debut in theaters, starring KING OF QUEENS star Kevin James, Alyson Hannigan, and THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie.
“We saw SOLO MIO, and the feeling was incredible. We knew it was a perfect fit for Angel to release to a broad audience,” Angel President Jordan Harmon said of the movie. “Kevin James and Jonathan Roumie bring heart, humor, and originality to this uplifting tale of rediscovery, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience it in theaters.”
ANIMAL FARM will hit theaters May 1, 2026.
