HGTV’s Ben Napier Reveals Personal Connection to Hurricane Helene
By Movieguide Contributor
HGTV’s Ben Napier took to Instagram to share his connection to states affected by Hurricane Helene. The HOME TOWN star used his platform to share ways for his followers to help North Carolina and Tennessee folks.
He posted a series of photos, including a pic of him and Erin Napier in their early years. Napier captioned the post:
If you’re looking for places to give for #helenerelief, check my stories.
Growing up, the Smokies of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee were heaven for my brothers and me. The first vacation I can remember was to this part of our great country. I went to church camp at @lakejunaluska every summer, and continued as a youth minister. This place is a part of mine and @erinapier’s love story. If you’re looking for ways to give, I’ve setup several links in my stories. These people are all helping with efforts in the area. #HurricaneHelene#WesternNC#smokies
The Hurricane has ravaged much of the Southeast of the United States.
“At least 120 people were killed as Helene traveled northwards from the Gulf Coast, The Associated Press reported Monday. The storm made landfall Thursday night as a Category 4 hurricane in Florida’s Big Bend region with sustained winds of 140 mph,” ABC News reported.
“Helene’s path of destruction stretched more than 500 miles, from coastal Florida to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ravaged by the storm, the historic North Carolina mountain community of Asheville is now isolated as hundreds of roads in the Carolinas remain closed, hampering the delivery of badly-needed supplies — and making it difficult to get people out,” CNN reported. More than 2 million are without power.
